  1. my name is Nurit Sahar, Im an educational psychologist from Jerusalem Israel and I’ve attended the Spring School on OCD in Assisi.
I had a wonderfull experience!!!!. The setting was magical and enabled learning in a peacefull manner. The courses’ subjects were well-chosen, both for interest and aquiring knowledge and for providing a wide range of methods and ways to understand and help with OCD. The Trainers were very proffessionals in their knowledge and experience and delivered it to us in a very interesting, communicative and interactive manner, so my learning experience was even more enhanced.
Barbara was wonderfull all along, answering questions before by mails and during the school time.It was very obvious that It mattered to her that everything went for the best and everyone will feel good.
And of course, the participants from other countries were very nice, eager to learn and share experiences with each other.
I realy hope that it will happen again, that this will become a tradition to come back to every year.
Thank you so much for this, and for those yet to come
    Nurit

  2. I have nothing else to add to Nurit’s comment. Thank you to everyone involved. Especially to Barbara for her great efforts before, during and after the Spring School. I hope to see you all again next year! 🙂 Greetings from Germany, Mira

  3. I am Cornelia Traut from Munich, Germany. We were a Group of four Girls from the AVM School, who used the perfect opportunity of making a beautiful trip to Italy and at the same time increasing our knowledge in treating OCD. It was great We all four had at the end the opinion that we would always do this trip again. Perfect combination of learning, Relaxing and getting to know expierenced professional colleagues, who have years of expierence in treating this disorder. And all of this in this wonderful atmosphere and surrounding of Assisi. So thanks a lot for the organization of this congress Barbara. It infected us in visiting more .
    Greatings from Munich
    Cornelia

  4. The International Spring School on OCD was a great success. Learning in small groups from experienced professionals and scientists was incredibly interesting and highly effective for me. I am glad I could be a part of this experience!
I am one of the aforementioned four girls from Munich and I fully confirm Cornelia’s post. It was extremely fruitful to learn and discuss the topics with other professionals from different countries and with different backgrounds.
I also would like to say a special thanks to Barbara for making this opportunity happen and for having all of us in Assisi.
I am very much looking forward to next year and can’t wait for another enlightening exchange.
The experience was better than I could have imagined and I am still raving to my friends and colleagues about it.
Again many thanks and hopefully until next year!
    Best, Veronika

  5. The Spring School “Latest developments in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder” for postgraduates and practitioners was organized by SPC (Italy) and AVM (Germany). From May 13th till May 14th 2013 a group of clinicians listened to experts from Israel, Italy, Germany, Norway and USA in the heart of the lovely city of Assisi.
Being one of the German participants, I especially enjoyed the guiding hand of dr.Barbara Barcaccia, from Scuola di Psicoterapia Cognitiva, SPC, Rome: the workshops took place in a very familiar and relaxed atmosphere.
The whole range of current approaches and intervention techniques of treating OCD were addressed by the different speakers using mostly case studies and encouraging us to participate in the discussion. While dr. Patrick Mc Grath, Illinois (USA) and dr. Kitty Dahl, Oslo (Norway) stressed the point of using CBT and ERP to challenge the illusion of thought control of OCD patients, dr.Barbara Barcaccia, Rome and prof. Reuven Dar,Tel Aviv (Israel) showed that, based on a metacognitive model of OCD, different techniques based on ACT can help “defusing” the identification of patients with their thoughts. From prof. Jonathan Huppert, Jerusalem (Israel) we heard about the indications and contraindications for the use of imaginal exposure when treating OCD and could prove our learning experiences while working on a case study given to us by prof. Gisela Röper, Munich (Germany).
At the end of the two days everybody in the German group agreed that it was worthwhile coming all the way from Munich to Italy to attend the Spring School and we hope there will be a follow-up of this event – maybe in Germany?

  6. I really enjoyed the stay in Assisi, the cordial reception, the great international athmosphere, the inspiring lectures, the exchange with experts and other participants and last but not least the sun during the coffee breaks and the lovely walks through Assisi;) I got lots of new ideas for the treatment of OCD patients and new input especially in techniques of Acceptance and Commtiment Therapy which I can’t wait to implement in my daily work. I would like to thank all of you who made this happen.

  7. I was also part of the allready mentioned group from the AVM in Munich and I can absolutely connect to the before mentioned opinions about the spring school: I enjoyed it very much to stay at the wonderful place Assisi and it was great and very enriching to learn so much about treating OCD from so many internationally well-respected speakers. It was also a great advantage to have so small groups, because like this I could learn a lot more then in a very big audience.
I am looking very much forward to a prosecution of the spring school in the next year and I would be glad to have the opportunity to participate again.
